“I hate you! I hate you! Daddy, you hurt Mommy bad! I hate you,” little Nicole wailed away with tear-filled eyes. She didn’t get a chance to finish another sentence because the man that was supposed to protect and love his one and only daughter had finally snapped. A vein pulsed in his forehead as he cracked his knuckles and glanced around the room, not really seeing anything. Nico grabbed his daughter by the back of the neck and hoisted her in the air like she was a pit bull puppy. Muscles flexed in his hairy forearm as he launched the child into her mother with tremendous force. A loud thud was heard as mother and child collided. Screams filled the air as they took a nasty tumble down the flight of stairs that lead up to their second story condominium. On the way down, little Nicole lost five of her front teeth, broke three ribs, and punctured a lung. Nico’s wife had crushed her nose during the fall, she also broke a few ribs, and her left foot was twisted in an unnatural angle when she finally landed at the bottom of the steps. Both lay unconscious in a twisted heap of flesh and bone and shallow breath. When Nico had finally regained his sanity, he was on a rowboat in the middle of the ocean in his underwear and drinking his own piss just to stay alive. Nico had suffered a mental breakdown and had no recollection of stabbing eleven people with a flat-head screwdriver during the escape from his second floor condominium. Out of the eleven victims, nine had died and the last two survivors were barely holding on and would probably be worm food within the next twelve hours. Nico’s carnage was on every television and radio news station in Italy. Wanted posters were tacked to anything with enough space to house them. The wanted poster showed a man with dead eyes and a broad forehead who looked to be in quite a rage. In all actuality, the photo was taken from Nico’s thirty-seventh birthday party where a waiter had spilled a glass of red wine on the hairy Italian man. The waiter was promptly cracked over the head with a wine bottle before he could even apologize to Nico. Now that he thought about it, he didn’t remember hitting the waiter either. What he did remember though, was being handcuffed and walked out of his party in his underwear and seated in the back of a police cruiser. “What the fuck was I doing in my underwear?” the dying man asked himself as he drifted in the Mediterranean Sea on his shitty little rowboat. Nico had resigned himself to his fate and he knew without a doubt that it would be his final resting place. He figured that in a few months he’d probably wash up on shore in some fucked up country, a skeleton with a pair of filthy underwear hanging off his ass and a wristwatch.
